So far... interesting but "so what?"

The 'so what' comes in part 2. Remember that this article was written with New Age gurus in mind who are going round claiming all sorts of wacko. Those who paid attention in physics will find the recipe lacks tang. Something else to consider is that these articles will be based on nothing more than my private passion rather than attempts at great and terrible revelation. I might even run an article on boiling kettles!

Mean variance modes of the “kettle on” time data series. Any other variables found to correlate with later or earlier kettle on! times?

I'm toying with the idea of showing the Mpemba effect...

I meant the data series with regard to the timestamps of your “Kettle on!” signaling the commencement of work.

Had not heard of Mpemba so looked it up. Interesting. So why does my mind wander to warmed brandies or perhaps hot (buttered) rums?

I’m reading a little late for coffee, more like herbal lemon ginger. Is the brandy glass table of overtones intended to have entries below the headings? Not showing for me.

Bother - I'll have a fiddle.

The table is fine when viewed in Chrome but not fine when viewed in the app. Curious. I'll rejiggle when at my workstation.

As you surmised I was reading from the app

Just refreshed the table using the desktop - should be ok now.

Confirmed. Interesting intervals: 900, 1300, 1400, 1400.

They are! I was going to add a para about harmonics being a mathematical progression but I took one look then hid that idea under the carpet.

Understood. I was expecting octave, fifth, fourth. What we see here are also not integral multiple of the fundamental. https://www.britannica.com/science/sound-physics/Overtones

Me too. I might record the glass again just to check.

although 1300 interval is roughly twice 646

Wouldn’t it be fun to lay out six (full) brandy glasses, then drink each one down by the amount needed to yield the standard guitar tuning E(2), A, D, G, B, and E(4). It’s conceivable you might need a bigger glass to achieve the range, but some experimentation may be needed to determine that.

(liquid shall be brandy)

What an experiment! I can muster three brandy glasses and three whisky glasses but will require another bottle of sounding liquid.
